Shakeology Cleanse – Day 1 of 3

Shakeology Cleanse - Day 1

My starting weight – Yuck!

205.6 lbs -ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Holy smoke!  I’ve got some work to do as I start my Shakeology cleanse.  That’s what I get for not being consistent in my fitness goals in 2010.

While I could sit here and give you a bunch of dumb excuses (some of them were real life issues) but the fact remains that I was inconsistent last year.

I started the year at 197lbs. and began doing what has become one of my favorite workouts “Insanity.  While weight loss was not my primary goal (cardio improvement was), I lost 9 pounds over a few months and got down to 189lbs.

I then let life knock me off my path a little bit and I gained back about 3 pounds to 192lbs.

Then as I entered my coaching responsibilities for my youth football team, I found myself making one bad decision after another from September through November.  I won’t bore you but you see what I saw on the scale this morning – 205.6.

I haven’t been this weight since 2008.  While I’m not grossly over weight, I’m 5’8″ and my ideal weight for my liking is 180lbs so I’ve got some work to do.

The Shakeology Cleanse

As I begin to start working towards my fitness goals for 2011, I’m going to start with the cleanse.  I’ve always believe in the benefits of cleansing your body as you begin a new fitness regime.

Cleansing to me is like restarting your computer and in my experience it’s helped me get off to a good start.

Shakeology is nutrition simplified

This is a cleanse developed around the use of the Shakeology health shake created by Beachbody.

I initially tried the shake a year ago when I was introduced to the coach opportunity with Team Beachbody.

I’ve been a nutrition/protein shake drinker for over 15 years given that my lifestyle is constantly on the go as an entrepreneur, active parent and youth football coach.

I found this meal replacement shake to be a solid replacement to the products like Muscle Milk and Myoplex which had been my favorites over the years.

After taking a close look at the “nature in a bag” ingredients and looked at the intense research and development process compared to the ingredients of what I’d been taking, it was an easy decision to give it a try.

Where Do Shakeology’s Ingredients Come From?

So Today is my first day of the program.  I’ll keep you updated on my progress.

Then, I will begin my training program which this year will be a combination of INSANITY and resistance training, 4 days per week.

Today, I feel great.  Since I’m not allowed to drink coffee(although 2 cups of green tea are allowed), I’ll likely have to deal with the caffeine withdrawal headache I usually get when I do cleanses since I drink 2 cups of coffee every day and green tea does not provide the same amount of caffeine.

I’ll weather the storm.

The goal is 180 lbs and this year I’m going for it.  CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY

The theme I’ll follow is “choosing the hard right vs the easy wrong.” Each day, I’ll be thinking about whether my decisions are bringing me closer to or taking me further away from my goals.  With this mindset, I’ll be sure to succeed and you can too.
